El Terremoto

Hey everyone!!

This week passed by super fast. Monday and Tuesday we were in a trio as the district leader had to travel to a meeting in Huancayo. It's always fun to be in a trio because the lessons always seem to go really well. Also it's a party.

This week a couple interesting things happened. First we started English classes and one of the members is an English professor at one of the schools here. So this week we got to enter into the school and announce our classes to his class. Then they got to ask me questions in English for extra credit. Also he is giving extra credit to the students who go to our classes, so that will help improve our attendance numbers.

Also this week we built a chicken/guinea pig cage for one of our investigators. Our pension showed us how to build it. It was fun to learn carpentry skills, since we are made it out of scrap wood.

Then Sunday at about 2:40 in the morning, there was an 8.0 earthquake in Peru. Luckily for us, it was about a 2 hour plane flight away so we still felt it, but it wasn't strong enough to do any damage. It was just enough to scare the people and that Sunday there were a lot more people at church haha. I just happened to have been assigned to give a talk on the sabbath day in church, so it was good timing. But yeah, it was a good week this week and we finally got a lot of sun which is good for the work but I know all of you back at home are enjoying lots of rain ;)

For a spiritual thought this week, I want to talk about fasting. Our mission decided to do a mission wide fast to help us get more baptisms. So we started the fast Saturday, to have more baptisms and Saturday night during the fast, two of our investigators committed to baptism in a couple weeks! It was crazy to me how quickly we saw results from the fast. I know fasting really does work, because giving up food and drink for 24 hours shows to God that we actually really do want His help. So if you need help in life, try fasting!

Dog Count: 554 for past two weeks, 9650 total
