Sorry for the slack lately...

Hey everyone

Sorry I've been slacking off on the group email, but I'm going to try to be better! It's just hard now that I can Face time with family.

The past two weeks have been a roller coaster. There have been some super lows but also some super highs. I'll skip the lows and go to the highs and funny stories. So the work here is going slowly, but progressing. Since knocking doors doesn't have any success in our area, we are working and visiting a lot with members. Also we went over the ward member list with the bishop and he showed us a bunch of families we should visit so that will help us out a lot also!

This week we found a super cool guy. He was drunk outside his house and called us over, speaking really impressive English. Later after accompanying him to the liquor store for more beers and cigarettes, he invited us into his house to talk. We were a little hesitant but decided to send it. We walked in his house to see the nicest house I will ever see here. It would be a super nice house in the states also. So we talked with him for a couple hours and he shared his life with us. At 17 he trafficked drugs and did that for a few years until some of his family members got shot for it, so he decided to get out before it got worse. Now he lives a normal life but has a drinking and smoking problem that we will have to work with. But he was really cool and super funny because he kept telling us we were good company and that he wants to drink with us haha. So we will see what happens with him, but I hope we can give him the gospel needed to help change his life.

So yesterday was Sunday and my birthday, and I got exactly what I wanted in a last minute assignment to give a talk in church, and later for lunch a big bowl of soup ;) haha I did get the lucky bowl though, because my companion had two chicken ankles in his. Not a foot or a leg, just the small ankle parts. I was lucky and got what I think was the neck part haha.

And while I'm talking about food, the other day we got to eat cow intestine or something. We weren't exactly sure what it was. But we ate it all with no stomachaches, so we cant complain!

Then later Sunday I got to see some family and friends since we can now Face time families for birthdays, so that was really good. Later my awesome pension (by the way sorry i have never explained to you what a pension is, but it's the lady that cooks our meals for us. Missionaries normally cook their own food except for in Peru and Bolivia, where there are pensions who cook for us.) threw a party for me and it was awesome! It's super humbling to know that a party with a few people, but ones you are close to, can be the best kind of party. Also my pension used to have a party store so everything was cars themed! Super awesome and it made me feel more like a child and less like I was turning 19. haha It was awesome. And my companion and I made an ice cream cake which looked ugly but tasted amazing. haha You cant mess up ice cream no matter how hard you try.

Anyways to end I would just like to testify of the reality of Jesus as the Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Many people don't believe that Christ was resurrected on the third day. But try telling that to Mary, the now 11 apostles, or the 2,500 Nephites in the Americas, who physically have seen Jesus resurrected and have felt the marks that the crucifixion left. I know that He lives and guides His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in these days.

And sorry the dog count is a little messed up right now, so I will get back to you next time with it! Anyways have a good week!!
