How was your week? After a few days of Ritz crackers and hot herbal drinks, I'm feeling a lot better! Also having people pray for me from 3 different countries (USA, Peru & Chile) helped a lot. Haha Wednesday morning I woke up feeling super good and just thought about the line from Tangled, "And at last I see the light." So yeah, I'm feeling a lot better.
Do you remember the old lady I baptized last week? Like how she was a little mentally unstable? Well after her baptism she miraculously has become super relaxed and chill. Her daughter who we are teaching was the first to tell us this. Now her daughter really wants to be baptized, which is cool that she has seen the difference baptism can make. So just remember baptism really does change people.
One super funny thing that happened this week is that we are teaching this lady a member referred us to. I was telling her about the Book of Mormon and testifying of it, and then I gave her a copy and challenged her to read it. She then responded thank you, but I don't know how to read. It turns out she grew up in a tiny village out in the mountains in the middle of no where and never was taught how to read. So that was a bit awkward. Luckily she has a daughter who can read. So hopefully we can teach her daughter and have them read together. Fingers crossed.
Anyway we´re supposed to be in rainy season right now, but it seems that I brought some of Logan's droughts with me here. The past few weeks it's been super sunny and at 11,000 feet elevation the sun is pretty strong. But what's funny is that I rarely get sunburned and my companion burns really bad. People always ask us why my companion is sunburned but the gringo isn't haha. We got tired of the sun this week and bought sombreros. My pension and her husband went with us to the market and they talked me into getting a sombrero with a brim that is basically the shape of a cowboy hat. Haha I guess Xavier did rub some influence off on me. What's funny is that when I began wearing it, people started saying I was Chuck Norris.
Since it's Christmas time I'll leave you with a short spiritual thought. If you read in 3rd Nephi, the Americas are given signs of Christs birth and his death. When Christ is born there is a day, a night, and a day as if it was one day. The sun set but it never got dark. Then with his death, there was 3 days of darkness and people couldn't light fires or do anything to have light. So it is fun to think that Christ literally brought light into the world the night he was born and then when he died light was taken out. The church for Christmas has a program called Light the World. When we do acts of Christlike service and love, we can help bring some of His light back into the world. So I would just challenge all of you to find ways to serve and show others love every day.
Now for the dog count, sorry I have forgotten to give it the past few weeks so I will just give a total. This week was interesting with dogs. This family has two sandlot type dogs and the other day one got out and wanted to eat me for dinner. But don't worry I'm fine I just have ptsd haha. Also I saw my first dog with rabies which was sketchy because we were talking in the street and the dog walked right up to us. Luckily he didn't bite, but he was foaming which definitely spooked me. Now here is the total: 5,090 🐶
Love y'all!
